It was nice to hear a little hockey chatter today. I get the world in in pandemic mode (but it's still moving forward), but like the actual NHL, it's nice to see/hear steps towards making things normal again and at least looking at ways of getting the league up and running in ways to create some fun for those at are looking to get involved. After listening to the arguments, I am in full agreement that opening Free Agency in any way will skew towards those that are paying more attention and create an imbalance for those that either don't have the time, or simply can't be as involved at this time for any of a thousand possible reasons. I don't want to penalise anyone that can't find the time.
So for that reason, we will keep Free Agency closed completely until we have a better understanding of when next season will begin.
Trading however is an option that we can look at since our regular season and playoffs have ended according to Yahoo. Since a dynasty league runs all year round, this is a feasible option provided the majority would like it to open up. Teams that wish to trade would be able to do so, and teams that don't wouldn't have to (still doing the minimum of responding to messages from other GMs, but actual trades can be at your own leisure/discretion as they would be in season).
So I have posted the poll, and we will look at the results as well as any possible discussion points below.
Off-season poll.

Re: Off-season poll.
With a current vote of 9-0, it looks like we have a majority of GMs vote to open trading. Again, feel free to open up any discussion points you may have. As it looks, we will be setting up to open trades (keeping Free Agency closed).

Re: Off-season poll.
So with a majority vote of 9-0 (5 non-votes that would not create a majority), as well, no discussion points opposed to opening trading, but more so focused around free agency (which will remain closed). The consensus is that trading will resume, this Thursday, June 4th at 12:00pm. While we are in a pandemic in the world, it does not mean that the world is ending, or that we have to stop enjoying the things we love during that time. Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you sneeze, make a trade or two to keep up with the enjoyment of fantasy hockey that Covid has taken away for now.
Please ensure that if you do receive a message or offer that you respond in a timely enough manner (although there is no obligation at all to trade as per the usual way you would run your team). As well, be kind in your responses, although you may not have as much time as others, or vice versa, we are all in this for the enjoyment of fantasy hockey now, and when it inevitably returns at a later date.
I do ask that you ensure, when trading, or acquiring a player you are looking at their salaries for next season (2020-2021) If you are actively dealing, you have time to look over your roster and change the salaries (update to next season).
All trades are subject to review by our Trading Review Panel (Vancouver, Stars, Jets), and can be overturned by a majority consensus of the panel.
Like I said, it sucks that things are the way that they are in the world currently, but I love hockey, fantasy hockey, etc. and I know everyone here enjoys hockey/fantasy/sports as well. This will offer that positive distraction some are looking for.
