Vancouver and Toronto

Post by Steve-CanucksGM »

After 6 months of back and forth, ups and downs, busy signals and phones slamming in the face.. the Canucks and Leafs have come to a deal.

The Vancouver Canucks are sending:

Gabriel Landeskog
Tomas Hertl
Dylan Strome
Jesse Puljujarvi
1st rd pick TOR

To the Toronto Maple Leafs for:

Max Pacioretty
Jonathan Drouin
Cam Atkinson
Oscar Klefbom

The Canucks balked at the thought of giving up some of the franchise's top stars, and knew some sacrifices had to be made. Puljujarvi and Strome are budding young stars and we believe they are going to be great players in this league. Landeskog and Hertl and are solid contributors and are wished well.

The incoming players of Drouin and MaxPac primarily, while having a down season, are much better than the stats suggest (Montreal is in an odd state atm). Atkinson and Klefbom offer something lacking in SOG and Goals.

While giving up futures, all of the incoming players are at an age to contribute to this team beyond this season.

Overall I believe the move will be a positive for us both.

After countless hours of negotiations, the deal was made. We hope the addition of young assets keep us competitive for years to come. This deal allows us to be more flexible and make future moves before this years trade deadline if needed. Although many pieces were exchanged and lots of production was given up, we hope to return the Fantasy Stanley cup finals this season.

Our phones are going to be busy in the next few days, and if any other GMs have interest in already owned or recently acquired assets in this deal, we are more than willing to talk.

GO LEAFS GO!
