Is it? I did not know that was the case. There seems to be a few of us who are in the dark with this.

I've looked into the offseason thread, and we stated back then that we could trade 2021 picks this season.

2021 will still be the farest we can trade picks next season as well.

Maybe Steve or StarsGM can confirm this.

I'm in agreement and i've made that known to Steve aswell. Rule changes have always been voted on in the offseason prior to the season its going to take place. We haven't voted on the draft pick change as of yet, so in my view, the current rule stands that you can still trade up to 3 seasons forward. And if a vote wasn't going to take place, it was never formally announced nor made crystal clear that it is the status quo going forward. For fairness of the league, teams have already traded their 2021 picks, so all teams this season should be able to trade up to that draft year in my opinion.

Yes you can. We never voted to change the rule, and since some people had already traded 2021 picks, it was only fair to let the remaining teams do the same. I'm sure this offseason we will have a vote to see if next year we will only be able to trade up to 2021 again, which I think is what you guys were asking about.

For this season you can trade 2021 picks. As of next season, picks will be only up to 2 years.

So this season it will be 2019 2020 2021

Next season it will be 2020 and 2021

Proposal: Poll to punish teams that tank inappropriately Inappriate Tanking= dressing players in the AHL, dressing players that have been healthy scratched for multiple days, not IRing/replacing injured players

Proposal: Poll for degree of punishment
I think it should be based on severity. One or two nights, depending on the misconduct we can let it go, using our sensible discretion. But a pattern of behaviour over a period of a month? Result in losing draft position in increments of 1 depending on how egregious the pattern of behaviour is.

In a 14 teams league, we should always be able to dress a somewhat competitive roster full of regular NHL players. Having a healthy scratch or AHL player on our roster for a 2-3 games is okay, but the FA market is full of NHL regulars.

In another league I am in, if teams are tanking too much or not dressing their best roster possible on purpose, they lose their lottery ticket for the draft and their 1st rounder is automically moved at the last spot of non playoff teams.

Maybe we could set a number of games played (excluding playoffs) a team needs to hit to be eligible to participate in the draft lottery.
If the team fails to reach it, the pick is moved at the end of non-playoff teams.

Something like 1300 games could be a reasonable number.
