2018 Off-season discussion
Re: 2018 Off-season discussion
One thing I would love talk about is the draft. I'm not a fan of this 12 hour to make a pick thing.

The wait can sometimes be a while, especially when you're excited to make your next pick. But this is why we start it so early. With everyone working/vacations etc. It gives ample time to make your pick.OilersGM wrote: Fri Jul 20, 2018 1:09 am One thing I would love talk about is the draft. I would like to propose a change in the scoring system.
The Shorthanded points category could be easily replace by another one. More than often, it results in a 1-0, 0-0 or 2-1 when it's a crazy week!
I personaly don't think it should be worth as much as the other points categories.
I would propose a change for Even-Strenght points, takeaways or Average time on ice.

Everyone should have to post and keep updated current salary cap totals. Most teams already do.

Yeah the math takes seconds, we all have brains (or calculators for idiots like me!)Habs GM wrote: Mon Jul 23, 2018 10:02 am Everyone should have to post and keep updated current salary cap totals. Most teams already do.
Transactions need to be posted too!
We should all be transparent with our stuff out of respect to all others who take time out of their lives to keep up with basic functions of this pool.
The "I didn't have time to post it" after making a transaction on yahoo is hogwash because it literally takes seconds to do it on your phone nevermind on a computer which is even quicker. And the excuse is even more poor when you hear through the grapevine that the particular teams are active all day in trade talks.
Our selfless commissioner manages to keep everything up to date in an almost flawless manner regarding timing. Sure sometimes he'll catch up on waiver claims... but knowing that he has a busy personal life and he's still able to keep up with all of the pool's house keeping means that we all shouldn't have an excuse for not being able to post the cap/transaction when making a move.
I don't mean to single anyone out I just hope we all participate with the same respect, integrity, and maintain a sufficient level of commitment.

Well said Sauga! Doesn't take long at all!
Re: 2018 Off-season discussion
My suggestion would be an 18 hour clock instead, without the clock stopping over night, cause as of now it is effectively a 24 clock accounting for the 12 hour stoppage overnight.

I like the suggestion but I think the argument would be that if GM A drafted at 1am , GM B who is asleep will lose the hours from 1am until he wakes up.Jets wrote: Wed Jul 25, 2018 12:15 pm My suggestion would be an 18 hour clock instead, without the clock stopping over night, cause as of now it is effectively a 24 clock accounting for the 12 hour stoppage overnight.

I still think there would be ample time remaining to draft personally, but I know everyone's schedules and life balance is different.

I spoke to one of the guys who manages the Fantasy hockey section at Yahoo Fantasy sports and he said they are likely to add a new stat category: Faceoff Win percentage. They were actually close to adding it last year but just couldn't add it in time before the season started. I'd be interested in that.
