I'd say 4 a month.
I'd say 4 a month.
Some guys however use those AHL rosters for prospects and high upside overseas players, especially rebuilding teams. Its hard to say that you should keep a Brian Gionta on your roster in case of injuries. Dynasty leagues allow for diverse teams.. win now/rebuilding/middle of the road.SaugaGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:36 pmI totally agree. We should be building deep teams, for injuries. And if you have literally no one on your "AHL" roster to step up, that's your own fault and you shouldn't be able to just sign 100 players throughout the year to fill the void. You should suffer with a roster of 20/25 or whatever the case.SensGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:20 pm I'm all for a FA signing cap that occurs monthly. I feel it waters down the league just to be able to pick up any player you want at any time during the season. I may be alone on this train of thought. I understand injuries occur, but that should also be the point of having your AHL roster. Having players on their that can step into the NHL when you need them. Not just prospects.
I'm fine with keeping track. I'm sure there are enough eyes to ensure folks are being honest too!steve-canucksgm wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:23 pmI don't mind this, whether its a cap of 50, 100 a year etc. This could be kept track of in a separate thread where each team adds the player to the thread once signed.. as long as everyone keeps up with it. I dont want to be alone in keeping track.
Ex.
Mississauga Steelheads
1. Chris Stewart
2.
3.
...
50.
There are enough player slots to have ready guys and prospects. And if you have to make hard decisions, then drop or make trades. Simple.steve-canucksgm wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:40 pmSome guys however use those AHL rosters for prospects and high upside overseas players, especially rebuilding teams. But again, why should a rebuilding team have to keep a Gionta type and drop an upside prospect if they are rebuilding. That's the thing with a dynasty.. not everyone is at the same spot with their team makeup.SaugaGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:43 pmThere are enough player slots to have ready guys and prospects. We have a current maximum limit of 3 years.SaugaGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:40 pm Maximum of draft years into the future you're allowed to trade picks from.
Example:
If it's 1991, you're not allowed to trade your 1994 picks.
Not saying to get rid of it I suppose. Just limit it.steve-canucksgm wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:36 pmBut if you trade 5 depth pieces for a star, then you need those FA signings to refill the holes.SensGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:24 pm Trading 5 guys just to sign 5 free agents right after really ruins the significance of the trade itself.
It's tough to limit the signings in a deep deep dynasty league like ours.
And I'm suggesting a 2 year window. (I didn't state it clearly the first time)steve-canucksgm wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:49 pmWe have a current maximum limit of 3 years.SaugaGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 4:40 pm Maximum of draft years into the future you're allowed to trade picks from.

As of the 2018 draft, picks up to 2021 can be moved
In 2011, the 2014 picks could be moved etc...
We can't limit how many players are traded that's the problem with it.SensGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:53 pmNot saying to get rid of it I suppose. I think the fact it's a deep league doesn't relate to the proposal for limiting signings. The limit is there to not water down the deep league where a team can just shuffle through the FA pile Willy nilly all year. There should be some consistency and encouragement to build a dynasty, not recycle trash. Quality over quantity.SensGM wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 5:53 pmNot saying to get rid of it I suppose.
